She is fine. Just fine. Her measurements were normal. She weighs six and a half pounds. There is no answer as to why the external measurements have shrunk; one guess, from the NST nurse, is that she "must have twisted herself up all funny at the doctor's office just to scare you." Seems as good a theory as any.

I have cried with relief exactly twice in my life: first when the amnio results came back, and then again today. If she makes it out safely, I'm guessing there will be a third time.

I didn't realize till now how close simple relief comes to joy for me.

So glad to hear that everything looks good. I can't wait to read news of her arrival; one of my best friends, also in the Bay Area (and I'm from San Carlos originally), is expecting her baby soon as well. As such, I'm sending lots of positive vibes down that way.

So so relieved for you. Another lurker who's been refreshing for you all day--so happy for you. Maybe this means she is getting ready to come??

Excellent news! And I think the nurse may be on to something - maybe this is the first indication that she's going to be a spunky one, keeping you on your toes! (Probably a lot like so many of us were, actually!)

Oh oh oh good!
I've been worried with you, and am so glad that she and you and all is well.

I'm with you on the crying when she gets here happy and healthy. I can't wait for that day too.

Good lord.

Wow, that was the scariest thing. I can't imagine how you must have felt.

When she gets here, I think you should give her a stern talking to. Or just cry from relief. Little buggar. Scaring her mom like that.

oh thank god! whew, a little word like "relief" doesn't begin to cover it.

i remember my cholestasis scare at 36 weeks. sigh. i didn't relax till i was hooked up to the monitors right before the delivery. then i figured okay, if something happens, they'll have him out in two minutes.

hand in there... almost there.

My stomach fell to my toes when I read your second to last post. I can't even imagine how YOU must have felt. Thank God everything is ok. Guess your baby decided she'd get an early start on driving her mother crazy!

What wonderful news!

I was suitably freaked out by your last post, but I must say: I was having a hard time believing she'd actually shrunk by 2 weeks or that you'd somehow lost a ton of amniotic fluid. I mean...the former just doesn't seem possible, and a gal would surely notice the latter!

Sneaky, mischievous little bugger. Bet you can't wait to meet her. :)

Can't blame you for crying with relief, nor do I think relief being equated with joy is odd. Things are looking great! I was 6lbs. 6 oz. when I was born, and I think I turned out pretty darn well.

Just getting to the computer to check on you, a day later of course, and what a rocky day.

I'm so so so glad everything is okay.

What is a biophysical profile and what can they do to not scare you to pieces until she comes?

So glad everything's fine. What a huge relief. I relief-cried when I got the second line (Nov 05) and when I got good amnio results back (March 06)....and this week at In-N-Out because they got my order wrong but fixed it really fast and were super nice about it. Love those hormones.

I'm so relieved for you! I really believe this was the case, that is somehow just a weird reading, but didn't want to say it because it felt stupid of dismissive!

Anyways, good luck in the near future.

Bugs, sending you a fierce hug, and hoping this is the very last scare.

At least until she falls off her bike. That gives you seven years or so to recover, right?

OK, no jokes. But I reiterate the hug.
