Stunned

We saw one heartbeat. Then we saw the other.

And then we saw another. The third sac, the one that was tiny and being reabsorbed, now has a heartbeat.

I am stunned, and I am terrified. This is not good news.

I don't yet know what to do.

Intel Strives to Save Energy
I'm coining a new term today. I'll trade mark it and make millions. What do I mean by a "Vile" form? A Vile form is any Aug.
Nice to see some decent content for a change. FYI, I log on today and see that we've got a new feature, the 'Flag blog' button, which is inconveniently located between the 'Get Your Own Blog' and 'Next Blog' buttons so that we would presumably be getting some flags on error alone (although if one happens to notice it, you can unflag a blog) But that's a trivial matter. What concerns me is this: When a person visiting a blog clicks the "Flag?" button in the Blogger Navbar, it means they believe the content of the blog may be potentially offensive or illegal. We track the number of times a blog has been flagged as objectionable and use this information to determine what action is needed. This feature allows the blogging community as a whole to identify content they deem objectionable. Ok, see the problem with this? What's "objectionable. And there lies the problem: what is objectionable? Just my 2 cents, Bifocal Contact Lenses

My sister went through IVF and at her first ultrasound, they saw 2 sacs that were the same size with heartbeats and one runt that the doctor said was well on it's way of being reabsorbed. The next sonogram showed 3 identically sized sacs all with hearbeats. The doctor wanted her to reduce one. She was so upset. She wanted a baby so bad, and now to be put in this position. She decided to go against her doctors very adamant advice and keep all three. She is nearing her 31st week of pregnancy. She had been on bed rest since 21 weeks and in the hospital since 29 weeks, but really for the most part it has been hard to remember she is pregnant with 3, her preganancy has been so normal. It was a very difficult decision to make. Even now we all go through moments of thinking "triplets how exciting" to "triplets how will they do it?" Who knows what would have happened if she had made a different choice and decided to reduce the one that was the runt. The only sure thing is that she would not be having a son now. The boy was the runt. None of this is really advice because I have never been in this position, but I know the mixed feelings. Either choice that you may have to make is understandable. I hope that your pregancy is as routine as can be.

Can I recommend the book When You're Expecting Twins, Triplets, or Quads: A Complete Resource by Barbara Luke and Tamara Eberlein? It was a huge help to me.

My dearest friend in Japan has triplets. (Naturally, can you believe? They were oops babies. Let's not even think about that). When she found out there were two she cried for joy. Then she went away and read up about multiple births. Then she found out there were three, and she wept for fear.

They are about to turn 13, and they are the most fantastic, miraculous children. All healthy and smart and full of sparks. I know how complicated this is, how much uncertainty there is and how much there is to be afraid of. Still, at the mention of triplets I can't help thinking of those girls I love so much. And I wanted to share that with you, for what it's worth.
